Van Herck - Eykelberg provides expertise on purchasing and selling art. When selling art we provide guidance with regard to pricing and market dynamics. We either execute the sale ourselves privately or help in the selection of the most adequate auction house.
In the purchase process we advise on attribution, condition and price. We have acquired artworks on behalf of clients from gallerists, art dealers and auction houses.
The company’s conservation studio has an outstanding reference list including the restoration and conservation of works by Peter Paul Rubens, Anthony Van Dyck, Jacob Jordaens, Frans Hals, Pieter Breughel the Younger, Jan Breughel the Elder, James Ensor, Theo Van Rysselberghe, Gerhard Richter and Lucio Fontana.
The Van Herck family has been active in the art sector since the mid-19th century. Previous generations of the family established a number of different art collections that were in 1996 for a large part acquired by the King Baudouin Foundation (www.collectionvanherck.com). The Van Herck family archives have been donated in different phases to the Rubenianum in Antwerp and a study center on the impact of the family on the cultural life in Antwerp has been established.
